Доктор Лорман є деканом факультету досліджень і розвитку Університету Конкордії та професором факультету освіти. Свого часу він викладав у різних класах в Австралії та Канаді, працював на педагогічному факультеті в університеті Монаш в Мельбурні.
Наукові інтереси Тіма Лормана охоплюють інклюзивну освіту та педагогіку. Результати його дослідницької діяльності були представлені на конференціях в Австралії, Гонконзі, США, Великобританії, Ірландії, Італії, Франції, Канаді, Іспанії та Україні. У 2010 році Доктора Лормана, як провідного наукового дослідника, було запрошено в Університет Болоньї в Італію, а в 2013 році - професором Королівського університету в Белфаст, Північна Ірландія.
Тім Лорман отримав кілька важливих канадських дослідницьких грантів. Нещодавно під його керівництвом завершено великий міжінституційний та міжнаціональний CIDA проект, спрямований на реформування системи освіти в Україні з метою забезпечення підтримки інклюзивної освіти. Нині науковий інтерес Доктора Лормана спрямовано на міжнародну роботу зі шкільними системами в тихоокеанських острівних країнах.
Тім Лорман є засновником і головним редактором International Journal of Whole Schooling, редактором Exceptionality Education Canada.
